Difference in the number of towels in hotels

May 10, 2026

Hotel towel yarn is mainly divided into three mainstream specifications: 16s, 21s and 32s. The yarn count represents the fineness of cotton yarn. The lower the count, the thicker the yarn; the higher the count, the finer the yarn. They are different in hand feel, thickness, water absorption and durability.

16s Towel

Thick yarn with bulky and robust terry loop. High fabric weight and solid texture, excellent water absorption and water storage performance. It is washable, wear-resistant and not easy to damage after frequent cleaning. With a thick and fluffy touch, it is widely used in budget hotels, express hotels and high-traffic guest rooms.

21s Towel

It is the standard mainstream specification for hotels. Moderate yarn thickness balances thickness and softness, with even and full terry loops and moderate water absorption. It is not easy to deform or lint after repeated washing. With balanced hand feel, it is the best cost-performance choice for mid-range business hotels and 3–4 star hotels.

32s Towel

Ultra-fine yarn with higher weaving density, smooth and delicate fabric surface, soft and skin-friendly touch with premium texture. Fine workmanship and elegant luster. It is commonly used in five-star hotels, high-end resort hotels and boutique rooms to deliver a luxurious staying experience.
